My training as a therapist and advocate has been focused on healing of old wounds, resolving past traumas, feeling more secure in relationships, understanding how grief and loss impacts us, and managing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Trauma
In my individuals counseling & therapy sessions, I work with many issues that can be painful to manage; even look at. I approach this work through a survivor-sensitive and trauma-informed lens, which recognizes the primary need of establishing safety and trust before one can begin to explore the impact of such events. I approach trauma with a holistic view that these events impact one’s psyche, body, sense of self, and relationships. My hope is to create a sense of safety for you in this process and to gently explore the wounds and the pain.
What Hurts
I believe we all carry hurts within us, whether they stem from wounds of our childhood, or more recent events, such as divorce, loss of a loved one, and the weight of our anxieties and depression. I approach these hurts by exploring one’s attachment wounds with early caregivers and the primary emotions underlying our defenses by using techniques in Emotion Focused Therapy, a model based on evidence that through exploration, one can access and transform emotions and develop deeper connections. I believe we all have an innate desire to heal that part of ourselves that has been hurt and to resolve unfinished business.
